February Change for Change: Valley Community Development

Our February Change for Change recipient is Valley Community Development out of Northampton, MA! Valley Community Development builds social equity by expanding housing and small business opportunities. Since 1988, they have been working on addressing the needs of our community through economic and housing development. They offer free small business counseling for start-ups and existing businesses and pre-and post purchase support for first-time home buyers in Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden counties.

They own and build affordable housing with a focus on people with very low-incomes and people coming out of homelessness. Current developments include the former nursing home in Northampton that will be 60 affordable apartments and converting the former EconoLodge in Hadley into 50 affordable apartments.
