February Change for Change: Valley Community Development
Our February Change for Change recipient is Valley Community Development of Northampton, MA!
This organization has served our community for 35 years by creating and preserving affordable housing, helping small businesses, and making first-time homeownership a reality for our neighbors. Their focus is on people with low and moderate incomes and marginalized populations.
Valley CDC also offers free small-business counseling services for start-ups and existing businesses as well as pre and post-purchase support for homebuyers in Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden counties.
The nonprofit owns and builds affordable housing focusing on people with very low incomes and people coming out of homelessness. Current developments include converting both the former Northampton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Northampton into 60 affordable apartments, and the former Econo Lodge in Hadley into 50 affordable apartments.
