Join us to experience the power of restorative yoga and reiki. You will enjoy restful poses designed to promote deep relaxation of the body, mind, and spirit. All attendees will have the opportunity to experience reiki (a Japanese form of energy healing that helps relieve stress and promotes well-being) while in the poses. As you relax, you will enjoy sound healing and beautiful live music performed by local musician Tommy Mac.
Mats will be provided. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Registration required.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Kathleen McCarthy
Kathleen earned her 200-hour certification for yoga and SEL (social emotional learning) Wellness through Breathe for Change, a 200-hour certification from Sacred Roots Healing in Easthampton, a certification in Restorative Yoga, and a certification in Cosmic Kids yoga. She started the Crisscross Applesauce Yoga Club at Belcher Elementary School in Chicopee where she works as a school nurse. Kathy is a registered nurse with over 35 years of experience working with children and families for most of her life. She also volunteered her time for many years as a Girl Scout leader teaching her troop the importance of community and giving back.
In the second half of her life, Kathleen is fully committed to the yogic lifestyle of physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. She is an enthusiastic, lifelong learner who enjoys teaching and sharing her love of yoga with others. Kathy loves working with children and is dedicated to empowering women to take the time for self-care. She is also a Usui-trained Reiki Master. She is always creating and enjoys art in all forms. You can often find her painting, gardening, and enjoying nature.
Caroline Solan
Caroline has spent over 15 years working in healthcare at Optum (UnitedHealth) and Cigna dedicated to helping employers see the value in investing in health and well-being programs to improve the health of their most valuable assets - their employees. She worked on research studies focused on prevention and behavioral health.
Caroline discovered yoga several years ago as a way to manage the stresses of daily life and found it to be a source of growth, calm and joy. After her father passed away from pancreatic cancer, she decided it was time to pursue a new life-changing path and completed Sacred Roots Healing’s 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. Caroline believes that yoga can benefit people of all ages and abilities and wants to share its benefits with others. She also earned her Usui Reiki Level 2 Certification. Caroline enjoys testing new recipes in the kitchen, reading biographies, and walking her dogs, Lily and Maya.
Tommy Mac
Tommy “Mac” McCarthy is a local musician who has played lead guitar, bass guitar, and vocals for over 30 years in venues across New England and beyond. He currently leads the Mac’s Slowhand Band performing the music of Eric Clapton and Cream and plays guitar with The Buddy McEarns Band as well as with Eric Phelps Music. Previously he played music with The Proof, Tuff Enough, Arabus and Bratt. He has also played along with many other talented Pioneer Valley musicians including Roger Salloom, the late Charles Neville, BJ Korona, Wildcat O’Halloran, Lisa Martin, and Eva Capelli.
