Blues & BBQ Fundraiser
at River Valley Co-op Northampton

On the morning of May 18th, 2023, an unexpected deep freeze took hold of Western Massachusetts. The sudden unseasonable drop in temperatures caused alarm for farms across the valley, and in some cases led to the loss of entire fields and large quantities of crops our local communities have come to rely on. Sobieski's River Valley Farm was one of those hit particularly hard, with about 10,000 blueberry bushes lost—an estimated 75% to 80% of their yearly production. This is the first time in 46 years the farm has experienced such extreme and unprecedented losses.

To help support Sobieski's River Valley Farm on their path to recovery, the co-op is hosting a Blues & BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, July 29th, from 4 - 7pm at the Northampton store. The event will feature live music, kids activities, and a delicious menu of freshly prepared food for sale including house-made BBQ, grilled corn on the cob, local ice cream, and more (plant-based and gluten-free options available).
