Art in the Café: Lila Kirley

Our September 2025 Art in the Café program features works from local artist Lila Kirley!

I use my daily life or how I’m currently feeling about myself or others as inspiration. Reworking my pieces is always an important part of my process. I like harsh dark lines against white paper and black background, or bright colors against nothingness.

I’ve always enjoyed contrast and some of my artwork comes from my feelings about my life and my family. I feel family and where you come from is very important, and often shows through in my works. I decided to include some pieces I made in my early childhood, trying to reflect on the past to help inform my future.

Art has always helped me visually express my words or emotions that I sometimes can’t otherwise.
